Q: Do I need finished designs?
A: No. You don’t need perfect tech packs or finished designs. In fact, many founders come with sketches, mood boards, or just ideas. Me and my team will help you understand what’s possible within your budget and timeline. This immersion is about learning what’s realistic, not about having everything figured out already.
Q: What if I’m not ready to produce yet?
A: Perfect. This immersion is designed for founders at different stages. Some are launching in 2026, others are still in the research phase. Either way, you’ll leave with a clear roadmap and know exactly what your next steps are. No pressure. Just clarity.
Q: Can I bring a co-founder or team member?
A: Yes. In fact, we encourage it. If you’re bringing someone, they need their own spot (limited to 15 total). Having a co-founder or team member there means you both see the same factories, ask the same questions, and build the same relationships. You’ll be stronger when you execute together.
Q: Is travel to Portugal included in the price?
A: No, you’ll need to arrange your own travel to Portugal and accommodation in Oporto (our pickup point). Fly into Porto Airport and make your way to Oporto. Important: On day 3, don’t book return flights before 9:00 PM — daily programme may run until around 6:00 PM.
Q: Is transport in Portugal included?
A: Transport between factories during the immersion days is included. We pick you up in Oporto at 8:00 AM and drop you back around 5:00-6:30 PM. Transport to/from Oporto (your hotel, airport, etc.) is your responsibility.
Q: Is accommodation included in the price?
A: No, accommodation is not included. However, we recommend staying in Oporto, which is our pickup point. We can recommend hotels in the area—just let us know and we’ll send you a curated list of options that work well for the immersion schedule.
Q: What about meals?
A: Lunch is included each day during the immersion. It’s a chance to debrief, ask questions, and network with other founders. Dinner is not included. During the day, we have breaks where we provide snacks and refreshments.
Q: What time do we start/ finish each day?
A: Pick up from Oporto (location to be provided) at 8:00 AM sharp each morning. We return to Oporto around 5:00-6:30 PM each day.
Q: Can I take photos and videos?
A: Each Factory has its own policy. We will make sure you can take all the important photos/videos during the factory visits. This is your experience—document it.
You will be clearly informed about what you can and what you cannot photograph or record. Remember factories need to respect the NDA’s they have with costumes.
Q: What happens after I book?
A: You’ll get a confirmation email with all details, accommodation recommendations in Oporto, pre-immersion briefing (what to bring, what to expect, factory backgrounds), WhatsApp group invitation, and Nancy’s contact info for any questions.
Q: Can I get a refund if I can’t make it?
A: We have a refund policy. Details will be in your booking confirmation. Life happens—just reach out and we’ll work with you.
Q: Do I get a certificate?
A: You will receive a certificate by Portugal Production Academy.
Why I created this Footwear Industry Immersion
When I transitioned from sports to the shoe industry, I had no idea how shoes were actually made
I was emailing factories that never replied, confused by materials I couldn’t touch and making decisions based on Google instead of reality. It was overwhelming. Lonely. Expensive mistakes.
My brain was yelling: Who can help me? Where can I find them?
Then everything changed when I walked my first factory floor.
Suddenly, production made sense. Materials felt real in my hands. Factory managers became people who answered my questions. I went from “shoe idea” to understanding exactly how to make it happen.
That’s the clarity I want every founder to have — without the years of trial and error.
So I created this Footwear Industry Immersion because screens and theory only get you so far. Real understanding comes from being on the production floor, asking your questions to the people who run the lines, touching materials you’ll actually use and be involved in the process.
